SEO Consultancy for the age of AI Search
My CV
I've worked for some of the world's top agencies
...on some of the world's largest brands
SEO consultancy, covering both traditional organic search and the emerging AI search landscape
Technical SEO Consultancy
"Organisations design systems that mirror their own communication structure"*. My approach to Technical SEO auditing isn't to provide an exhaustive list of SEO issues (although it does include that), but to dig into the reasoning behind your technology choices and provide a strategically focused technical SEO roadmap with your capacities and commercial priorities at their core.

AEO/GEO strategy
AI — two letters on everyone's lips. There's a lot of crossover with SEO, but how customers use LLMs is fundamentally different than how they use a search box, and that means your strategy needs to evolve along with it. Nobody has the full picture right now, but I can support you in navigating the fast-evolving field with strategic consulting across technology, content and earned media.
I flirted with naming the company 'Second Mouse', as in 'gets the cheese'. Engaging with me means you should expect a critical and evidence-based perspective on AI - not breathless hype.
Reporting
Data is only as valuable as the decisions it drives. I build dedicated performance reports designed to ladder up to your wider strategy, not to data dump.
The Search Landscape Review
The SLR is a data-driven strategic framework designed to benchmark your position in SEO. What are your customers looking for? Where are the gaps? What are your capacities, and what does the competitive landscape look like? The output is a full roadmap that drives informed investment in growing your share of the biggest marketplace in the world — search.
SEO Training and Operations support
Having run teams for 8 years, I'm well versed in up-skilling across PR, Content and Development, and operationalising teams for success. And with AI proving to be such a useful tool, I can support you in developing both in-house and agency teams' capacities to take full advantage of this new technology.
Public Speaking
I've spoken and appeared at industry events and podcasts on AI search, content strategy, and the evolving search landscape.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does freelance SEO consultancy cost?
I tailor costs to the particular project and outcomes. As a guide, it is very rare that an engagement will be less than £1,000. Before we start, I assess whether there's a genuine commercial opportunity that justifies my fees, and I'll be upfront if I don't think SEO is the right fit right now. It's ultimately better for me to form longer-term profitable relationships than constantly being on the pitching hamster wheel, which means I only take on work where I have a real chance to deliver value — not just a quick buck.
Do you work on a retainer or project basis?
Both. Some clients need a one-off deliverable — an audit, a Search Landscape Review, or a training session — and that is a fixed-scope, fixed-price project. Others benefit from an ongoing consultative retainer where I am embedded in their planning, tracking performance and iterating strategy over time. We can structure whatever works best for your business and budget.
How long does it take to see results from SEO?
If you have an established brand and it is a gap in your content, your user experience, or technical issues that are preventing you maximising your visibility then the results are usually dictated by how long it takes to ship the fix. If you lack the brand, link, and audience signals to compete then SEO is a longer game. The Search Landscape Review is designed to give you a full 360° view.
What does a technical SEO audit cover?
A thorough audit covers crawlability, indexation, site architecture, page speed, structured data, internal linking, canonicalisation, and mobile usability, among other areas. Where my process differs is that it also includes steps to understand your commercial goals, your resource capacities to fix changes, as well as the reasons underpinning your technology decisions. My goal is to give stakeholders the clarity they need to make informed investment decisions — without the jargon — and to arm technical teams with everything needed to ship the fix.
Do you work with small businesses as well as large brands?
Yes. My background is in large agency environments working on major brand accounts, but the strategic thinking translates directly to smaller businesses — and I find that focused, well-scoped work for ambitious smaller clients is often the most rewarding. Whether you are a start-up looking to build organic visibility from scratch or an established business trying to grow your share of search, I am comfortable with both.
Can you work alongside our existing agency or in-house team?
Absolutely. A significant part of my work is as a specialist layer alongside generalist agencies or in-house marketing teams. This might mean providing senior strategic oversight, filling a technical SEO gap, or offering an independent perspective on a recommendation your current agency has made. I am used to collaborating within existing structures and have no interest in replacing relationships that are working well.
What industries do you have experience in?
Across 17 years in SEO, I have worked in B2B, finance, travel, technology, consumer goods, publishing, healthcare, e-commerce.... SEO principles transfer across sectors, but understanding the commercial context - the competitive dynamics, the customer intent, the regulatory environment - matters enormously. I take time to understand your market before making recommendations.
Do you offer SEO training for internal teams?
Yes. I have run SEO training across content, PR, and development teams throughout my career, tailored to the specific audience rather than a generic workshop format. Whether your team needs a foundational grounding in how search works, a focused session on technical SEO for developers, or help understanding how to think about content from a search perspective, I can build something appropriate.
Do you offer SEO Linkbuilding?
I can support on the strategic side of offsite, and a Search Landscape Review can provide commercial modelling and help guide briefs for PR and Earned Media teams to close competitive gaps. But I am not the guy to turn to for the day-to-day work of pitching to journalists. If that's the support you need, I can happily refer you to some trusted colleagues in that space.
